Many Americans have serious concerns about the way ICE has been rounding up people on the streets. And many other Americans have concerns about the number of immigrants who entered our country illegally and see ICE as simply doing their job.
Please join the Braver Angels Berkeley-Oakland-San Francisco Alliance to discuss this highly polarizing issue.
Join us for a free two-part intensive workshop that brings together Red (conservative or Republican-leaning) and Blue (liberal or Democratic-leaning) citizens for moderated activities and structured discussions that reduce stereotyped thinking, clarify disagreements, build relationships and find common ground through listening and learning rather than declaring and debating.
Schedule
This is an all day in-person workshop. In part 1, participants get to know one another and a foundation of trust is established. This paves the way for a deeper dive into authentic, respectful and thought-provoking questions and answers in part 2. NOTE: It is important to be available and committed for both parts.
Who can attend?
Anyone interested in developing a deeper understanding of, and connection with, people whose political beliefs differ from their own is welcome. There are two ways to join a Red/Blue Workshop: as a Participant or as an Observer.

About the event
This Place | That Place: An Interactive Book Experience
Step beyond the page with This Place | That Place: a unique, interactive experience based on the novel by Dr. Nandita Dinesh. Blending literature with opportunities for the audience to engage, this event departs from the traditional book reading format to offer a participatory journey into themes of war, identity, and displacement. Drawing on her background as a theatre maker and educator, Nandita Dinesh invites attendees to reflect, observe, and— if they wish— take part in storytelling and dialogue-based activities. Whether you choose to speak, listen, or both, your presence will shape an exploration of the creative and nuanced conversations that embodied engagements with literature can spark. Discover more about Nandita's work at www.NanditaDinesh.com.

Join us on Saturday, October 4 at Golden Gate University in San Francisco for a four-hour workshop that’s fast-paced, engaging, and—yes—fun. Through interactive exercises and small-group conversations, we encourage attendees to share their own perspective, hear directly from others, and experience what respectful, in-person dialogue really feels like. You’ll have a great time, leave feeling heard and perhaps even be surprised by what you learn.
Lunch and snacks are included in the $10 registration fee. Space is limited, so register by Wednesday, October 1 to secure your spot.
Braver Angels thanks Golden Gate University for their generous donation of a venue for this event.
